Privacy Policy

Last updated April 11, 2025.

DigitalPlat Domain is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit initiative providing free domain registration under the *.domain and *.dpdns.org namespaces. Your privacy is essential to our mission. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information.

Information we collect

  • Personal Information: Name, email address, and contact details provided during registration (including for WHOIS and communication).
  • KYC Information: Government-issued identification, proof of address, and other documents used to verify identity.
  • Usage Data: IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, and related metadata.
  • Cookies: Session-related cookies and similar tracking technologies to monitor activity and support service functionality.

How we use your information

  • To provide services: Manage domain registration and DNS services using personal and KYC information.
  • Communication: Send service notifications, updates, and system messages; with consent, provide newsletters or announcements.
  • Improving services: Use usage data to analyze traffic, detect abuse, and improve performance.

Storage and security

Data is stored in encrypted form on secure servers primarily located in the United States (California) and within DigitalPlat’s global nodes. We use SSL encryption, secure access controls, and audit logs to safeguard information.

KYC data usage and retention

  • Enforcement: KYC data is used solely for identity verification and abuse mitigation. False information may result in denial or suspension.
  • Retention: Verified KYC data is retained for up to 12 months unless required for legal or abuse review. Incomplete or denied records are deleted sooner.
  • Non-transferability: Any KYC verification token (“KYC Key”) is non-transferable and bound to the verified individual or entity.

We may log DNS query activity, domain creation metadata, and nameserver propagation to ensure stability and investigate abuse. These logs are stored securely and not shared publicly.

Data sharing and disclosure

  • Nonprofit commitment: We do not sell or monetize personal data.
  • Third-party services: We use analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics) and identity services (e.g., Google OAuth) under their own privacy terms.
  • Global KYC review: In rare cases, verified DigitalPlat staff and security advisors may access KYC data under strict confidentiality.
  • Lawful disclosures: We may disclose information if required by law or to comply with valid requests from registries, ICANN, law enforcement, or national security authorities.

Where applicable, you may:
